Rams’ Darious Williams, Van Jefferson Miss Finale UC Irvine Practice
The Los Angeles Rams have completed their last practice at UC Irvine as they now return to Thousand Oaks, the team’s headquarters. In doing so, the Rams had two new players who missed out on training on Tuesday.
Cornerback Darious Williams and wide receiver Van Jefferson did not participate on Tuesday afternoon, and McVay explained what made that happen after practice.
McVay called Williams’ absence “a bit like an ankle”, although he did not elaborate on the severity of the injury. Jefferson was held up as McVay said they were “working on some of the COVID stuff.”
“I have no doubts he will be back,” McVay said. “It was one of those deals where at the moment – if I was leaning towards what happened, I think it got a false positive, but you really have to wait. His second test came back negative and then we’re really waiting 24 hours to confirm it’s a false positive, and hopefully he can come back with us tomorrow.
With Williams as the team’s starting cornerback opposite Jalen Ramsey, it’s likely he won’t see many snaps – if any – during the preseason game. Jefferson, however, will likely get a few stares before the Week 1 opener, but he’ll have to clear the protocol before continuing.
The Rams will host the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, August 14 at 7 p.m. ET inside SoFi Stadium.
