Deontay Wilder’s brother answers Tommy Fury’s call for a summer fight
Deontay Wilder’s brother Marsellos has answered Tommy Fury’s call for a fight on the undercard of their respective brothers’ trilogy fight this summer.
Tommy’s brother Tyson will take on Deontay in a trilogy on July 24 in Las Vegas, and young Fury wants to make it a family affair.
Marsellos took to social media today to post a video reacting to Love Island star Tommy ‘s call telling him to send a legitimate offer instead of to the media.
“Hey Tommy Fury, keep the same energy when you see me,” Marsellos said. “You speak on my behalf, but your team hasn’t sent me anything.
“I don’t cap, I’m a real life artist, boy.”
Fury made the call in preparation for his fight this weekend with Jordan Grant on the undercard of the interim heavyweight title fight between Daniel Dubois and Bogdan Dinu.
Young Fury is set to beat Grant, despite his undefeated record, and could turn around in just six weeks to face Wilder, although he will have to put on some weight to face his cruiserweight nemesis.
“This fight [with Marsellos Wilder] would make the headlines, ”Fury told Queensberry’s The Lowdown. “It would be a privilege to fight on Tyson’s undercard and both have victories.
“I’m ready for this fight. I’m ready for everything. I’m here training, in good shape, so whatever happens I’ll be ready for it.
“I’m going to have a piece of it. I called him before and he never answered.
Fury, 22, who was a 2019 Love Island season finalist with his girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague, was training in Miami with his brother Tyson when news broke he would fight Wilder instead of Anthony Joshua.
And now he appears to want to fight with Marsellos, 31, who started boxing later than Fury’s current age and was arrested twice during his relatively young fighting career.
Marsellos was planning a return to the ring in early 2020, but due to the onset of the pandemic, he focused on training.
It wouldn’t be the first time Fury had called him, stating late last year: “If his brother wants the same as Deontay, then he can get it.
“I see a lot of people tweeting wanting to fight me, but I’ve never seen this before going to Love Island, so I know what they’re looking for.
“If Marsellos Wilder is one of those, then I’d love to help.
“My advice to him would be to shut up and stay in America where he can try to help his brother get over what Tyson has done to him, fair and square.”
Fury is 5-0 as a professional while the youngest Wilder is 5-2, losing his last fight to a brutal shot from Dustin Long towards the end of 2019.
